RM India Logistics has an extensive experience in the ODC industry. In all these years we have developed an extensive database of en-route obstacles. Our workforce has experience in transporting ODC. These strengths has helped us conquer all the areas of Project logistics, from ODC to Critical ODC to Super ODC with 100% error free record.
In simplest terms, ODC or Over Dimensional Cargo is a cargo that protrudes outside the loading deck of the vehicle transporting the cargo. If a truck with loading platform length of 20 feet is loaded with cargo like TMT bars of length 22 feet, then the TMT bars qualifies as Over-Dimension Cargo. If the same TMT bars were loaded on a vehicle with platform length of 22+ feet, it would have been classified as Normal Cargo rather than ODC. This definition of ODC is to resist industry from transporting Normal Cargo unnecessarily as ODC for small economic benefits compromising road user’s safety. As discussed in our other article, “What are the costs associated with ODC?”, the government imposes fine on the carriage of ODC, hence incentivizing the industry to refrain from taking unnecessary risks and using larger vehicles to transport these loads.
With a dedicated organization and a worldwide network of specialists,RM India Logistics deal with one of the largest and youngest fleets of refrigerated containers consisting of 20’, 40’ High Cube and 45’ PalletWide. (32/33). RM India Logistics is your global Reefer partner with local expertise in refrigerated transport.
Refrigerated containers are designed to maintain a specific temperature of the cargo during transport. In most cases, goods have to be pre-cooled to the required optimal temperature for transport before stuffing into the Reefer container. The air is delivered on the lower side of the container through the T-Bar floor channels, allowing upwards vertical air circulation. During the transport, fresh products are respiring consuming oxygen and releasing CO2 .
To properly refrigerate the cargo, it should be correctly stowed inside the container. The container is marked with red lines, defining the nominal loading space, lines which may not be exceeded. The floor should be entirely covered by goods.
A tank container is a vessel of stainless steel surrounded by an insulation and protective layer of usually polyurethane and aluminum. The vessel is in the middle of a steel frame. The frame is made according to ISO standards and is 19.8556 feet (6.05 meters) long, 7.874 feet (2.40 meters) wide and 7.874 feet (2.40 meters) or 8.374 feet (2.55 meters) high. The contents of the tank range from 17,500 to 26,000 liters (3,800 to 5,700 imp gal; 4,600 to 6,900 U.S. gal). There are both smaller and larger tank containers, which usually have a size different from the ISO standard sizes. For example, there are some 27,000 liters (5,900 imp gal; 7,100 U.S. gal) and above litre tank containers in the European swap body fleets in Europe but they are not used on international business only on intra European traffic. The trade organization @TCO estimates that as of January 1st, 2018 the global fleet of tank containers stands at 552,000 units. Most of these tank containers are owned by operators and leasing companies.
SO tank containers built to transport hazardous cargo have to meet a variety of regulations including but not limited to IMDG, ADR-RID- US DOT and other. There are a variety of UN Portable tank types, the most common of which is T11 as it is permitted to transport a thousand or more hazardous bulk chemicals.
